At least two people were killed and 21 others injured in a knife attack at a hospital in China on Tuesday, the authorities said. The stabbing took place in the southwestern province of Yunnan at about 11:30 a.m., the police in Zhenxiong County said in a statement. The attack happened at Zhenxiong People’s Hospital, an employee at Zhenxiong County Health Bureau said by phone on Tuesday. She did not give her name or confirm any other details. Knife attacks are not uncommon in China, where guns are tightly regulated, and some stabbing rampages have occurred in hospitals.

A Palestinian man inspecting damage on Saturday after Israeli settlers attacked the village of Al Mughayir, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it would bolster its forces in the West Bank with additional companies and police. CNN —Leslie Van Houten, a former Charles Manson follower and convicted murderer, was released from a California prison on Tuesday, a prison spokesperson told CNN. Van Houten was released to parole supervision, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson Mary Xjimenez said. Van Houten will have a three-year maximum parole term with a parole discharge review occurring after one year, Xjimenez said. U.S.-brokered peace talks aimed at founding a Palestinian state in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza collapsed in 2014. Ben-Gvir told the police chief that "he opposes any violation of the law" but cannot accept "collective punishment" of settlers, a statement from the minister's party said. Last week he issued a general censure of rioting in the West Bank.

New York CNN —A wrongful death lawsuit filed against several social media companies Friday alleges that social media lent to the radicalization of the gunman who shot and killed 10 people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, last May. “However, the social media platforms that radicalized him, and the companies that armed him, must still be held accountable for their actions. Speaking to CNN Sunday, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown commended some of the victims’ families and survivors for tackling extremism on social media platforms. We deliberately designed Snapchat differently than traditional social media platforms and don’t allow unvetted content to go viral or be algorithmically promoted. The lawsuit alleges that social media platforms “Meta, Alphabet, Reddit and 4chan earned advertising revenue from hosting and amplifying” Gendron’s video on their platforms.

BELGRADE, May 7 (Reuters) - Serbia's Education Minister Branko Ruzic resigned on Sunday over last week's shooting at an elementary school in which eight children and a security guard were killed, amid public anger over that and another mass shooting just a day later. The country is in shock and mourning over the two shootings: the school massacre in the capital on Wednesday and a rampage outside the city on Thursday in which eight people died. The suspects in both cases - respectively a 13-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man - are in custody. Opposition parties, who blame Prime Minister Ana Brnabic's government for failing to prevent the two rampages, have called on supporters to join an anti-government march on Monday evening in Belgrade. Serbia has an entrenched gun culture, especially in rural areas, but its gun control laws were fairly strict even before the latest shootings.
